about

Established in 2010, The School for Mind & Nature is a research and training center dedicated to the advancement of mind/body arts & sciences as universally-accredited forms of preventative and complimentary medicine, as well as prescriptions for the conscious evolution of humankind in the 21st century. The school's primary focus is to explore synergy between the Self and environment, to foster an appreciation for a variety of ancient and modern healing modalities, and to empower individuals and organizations with skills for healthy, sustainable, extraordinary living.

We offer a number of outstanding mind/body artforms that have been shown to effectively reduce hypertension, depression, anxiety, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain and chemical dependency. Our comprehensive therapies target weight loss, increase physical strength, flexibility, vitality, stamina, focus & concentrative ability, communication skills, perception, sexual energy and creative inspiration. Additionally we provide techniques that aid in the release of negative emotions and thought patterns, calm the nervous system and develop the capacity to meet life's challenges from a place of confidence, self-assurance and deep inner peace.

In essence, we help you to become your own master.

Nick Atlas is an IYF 500-hour certified Yoga Therapist and experienced meditator with additional training in Qigong, Tantra, Taoist Yoga, Dance/Movement/Music Therapy, Mindfulness and iRest Yoga Nidra. An award-winning visual artist, author, musician, DJ, gardener/naturalist, wilderness guide, Reiki/Qi healer and avid dream-traveler with over ten years experience in the healing arts, Nick is the creator of Yoga Sleep Therapy® and is widely regarded as a teacher's teacher.

After graduating from Emory University with a degree in social-psychology, Nick spent several years as a professional photographer documenting tribal communication and ritualism at music festivals throughout North America prior to receiving the bulk of his mind/body education in India and Thailand. To date he's traveled to over twenty-five countries and forty-nine US states seamlessly interweaving both ancient and contemporary traditions while sharing the wisdom of an overwhelming number of gifted healers, swamis and shamans. He has served as a faculty assistant to some of the world's foremost spiritual masters, and in particular is proud to honor the work of his mentors Toni Bergins, Roger Jahnke, Jack Kornfield, Bobby McFerrin, Richard Miller, Stephen Spyrit, Swami Vivekananda Saraswati, Ken Cohen and Paulie Zink.

In 2011 Nick released the popular guided Yoga CD, "Practicing Eternity," and is nearing completion of his first book detailing his enlightening experiences as a wandering artist & yogi. Currently based in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, Nick is on faculty at Canyon Ranch Resort, Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, the Omega Institute and Yoga Great Barrington, in addition to teaching at festivals and facilitating retreats internationally.
